Reports to: OPTHAMOLOGIST
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Perform vision test and analyze results
2. Diagnose sight problems, such as near sightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases, such as glaucoma
3. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses and medication
4. Provide treatment such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation to improve visual issues.
5. Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, vision hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors
6. Document diagnosis and treatment plan, including referrals, therapeutic prescription and long term medical management, in patient’s charts.
7. Inventory management of equipment and supplies at the optical unit.
Qualifications
1. Diploma in Optometry and vision sciences
2. Must be registered and retained with the Optometrists Association of Kenya (OAK) and hold a valid practicing license
3. At least 3 Year of relevant clinical experience
Required Skills:
1. Customer service oriented with excellent analytical skills
2. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
